In this new series from the Chicken Soup for the Soul inspirational series, animals demonstrate concepts of taking turns and celebrating differences. Jaguar and Sloth are friends even though one is fast and the other slow, and two penguins learn it is better to share. Both books rely on repetition and rhyme with the entire text in dialogue balloons, making these fun books for young toddlers to emergent readers. The full-color cartoonish artwork adds charm. The books end with a note to parents on how to extend the theme of each book.

Follow along as Jaguar and Sloth learn an important lesson in this adorable board book for little readers. Meet Jaguar as she jumps and runs super fast in her red shoes. Sloth hangs down from a tree and tells Jaguar that her running is too fast and she should go slow. Sloth likes to sit and smell flowers and go with the flow. Sloth relaxes in the shade and moves very slow. Jaguar thinks that moving fast is more fun. The two animals reflect on how they move at different paces. Jaguar thinks it is a good idea to try out both speeds. Sloth moves fast and the Jaguar moves slow. The two tried out a different speed but still each decided they preferred their original speed. The armadillo reminds them that there are also speeds other than fast and slow and that all speeds are fine! This is a wonderful message for young children as they interact with peers who might move at a different pace. The illustrations are colorful and engaging for young children. This book would make a great addition to a home library or early childhood classroom.
