John Gurche is an artist known for his paintings, sculptures, and sketches of prehistoric life, particularly dinosaurs and early humans. His work has been on display at the American Museum of Natural History, the Field Museum, and the Smithsonian; his illustrations have appeared in National Geographic and he worked as a consultant on Jurassic Park. He received the Lanzendorf PaleoArt Prize in 2000. John studied anthropology and paleontology at the University of Kansas. He lives and works in upstate New York as an Artist in Residence at the Museum of the Earth.
