Children's Literature
Although Ajay is depicted as a cartoon animal, he acts like a typical young boy. He likes to play tag with his friends, play games outside, and he is also very active. Early on, Ajay learns that a healthy lifestyle is essential to being able to run, play, and keep up with his friends. Guided by his parent's wisdom and life experiences, Ajay is taught the benefits of leading a healthy life. From eating meals that are wholesome, to exercising regularly, to drinking plenty of water, Ajay discovers how being healthy keeps him strong, fast, and most importantly, happy. Murphy puts forth a meaningful message in order to get his point across. At the conclusion of the book there is a section with follow-up questions to encourage young readers to think further about the concept of being healthy and what good health means to them. Throughout the book, Murphy uses bold text with a larger font to point out key ideas and messages. Murphy hits on a popular topic with this book and does so in a manner that engages young readers and parents alike. –Jayme Derbyshire
