Iris Van Rynbach has illustrated numerous books for young people. Over the River and Through the Woods (Little Brown) written by Lydia Maria Child and illustrated by Iris was chosen as a Reading Rainbow Book. Everything from a Nail to a Coffin (Orchard) which she wrote and illustrated, was selected as a Notable Children's Trade Book in the field of Social Studies by the National Council of Social Studies and the Children's Book Council. Washington, D.C.: A Scrapbook was awarded Learning Magazine's 2001 Teacher's Choice Award.
